Calhoun gave his mice a perfect world: unlimited food, no danger, every need met. They fell apart anyway. The strong went passive, the rest retreated into themselves, and the colony died in comfort. We have built the same thing for ourselves.
Plato named it long before the screen did — shadows on a wall, mistaken for the world. Most men will defend the shadows. A few turn around. That turning is metanoia.
